What is Childhaven?

Childhaven, Inc. is an institution sponsored by churches of Christ providing many forms of care for children and teenagers who otherwise would not receive proper care. It is, in the truest sense of the word, a Christian "home." Childhaven seeks faithful Christian couples to serve as foster parents for the children for whom they care. The Childhaven campus is in Cullman, Alabama.

Of the care they provide their children, Childhaven states on its website:

All children are involved with church through regular church attendance, involvement with all church activities, and other activities (retreats, home Bible studies, personal Bible studies, etc.) For the past six years, between 15 - 25 children have been baptized each year. Our NUMBER ONE goal is to help each child see God as their loving Father, and thus develop a strong personal faith. This goal is ever kept before us, as we open our weekly staff meetings with a devotional and prayer, and often make have special prayer for children who are struggling.

Childhaven is involved in several forms of care:

• Campus Care - primarily for teenagers; provides homes through residential group housing

• College Care - a college education provided for every Childhaven child

• Counseling - counseling to Childhaven children, biological families, the church, and community

• Foster Care - for children from birth to teenagers, foster care supplies homes in 40+ Christian homes in Alabama

• Shelter Care - located in Gadsden, Alabama; provides shelter care for children in crisis

• The Genesis Project - for teen mothers and their babies; it teaches/mentors parenting skills and guides young mothers towards making the best decisions for their babies

• Transitional Living - delivers technical/vocational training for life

How do we support Childhaven?

We often support Childhaven through organized special contributions of the membership. We also hold a special Childhaven gift drive in November and December each year.
