In
a July 15, 2006 Anniston Star AP article, Ken
Kusmer, reported on a campaign organized by the Metropolitan
Community Churches (a homosexual and lesbian denomination) and
Mitchell Gold, a Jewish homosexual activist. The campaign centers on
the question, “Would Jesus discriminate?” The question is being
trumpeted in conservative Indiana, as a “new Bible-based appeal for
acceptance of gays and lesbians.” One ad for the campaign asserts,
“Jesus taught us to love everyone, even our enemies and those who
are different from us, not destroy or mistreat them.” Are we
destroying or mistreating homosexuals?
The June-August 2006 issue of the AARP Bulletin laments that
funding for the National Institutes of Health is projected to be
frozen for fiscal year 2007 at the current level of $30 billion. The
article shows a breakdown of where the funds are spent. The largest
proposed area is cancer, with $7.8 billion. This works out to
$14,006 per fatality. The smallest disease funding shown in the
chart is for stroke, at $338 million, or $2,143 per fatality.
What interested me most about the chart is the vast
amounts of money spent on HIV/AIDS research. At $2.9 billion, it is
third behind cancer, and influenza/ pneumonia at $3.8 billion. What
is so striking is how this funding compares
to fatalities. Funding
for HIV/AIDS is $212,330 per fatality—almost 100 times more
funding per fatality than what is spent for research on strokes, and
more than any other disease. But the homosexual lobby still insists
that not enough of our government resources are expended in research
for HIV/AIDS!
The plain facts of the matter are that the Bible has
always condemned homosexuality. Sodom was destroyed because of the
sin of homosexuality. “Have ye not read, that he which made them
at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause
shall a man leave father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh” (Mathew
19:4-5).
Are We Destroying Them?
